Jylana L. Sheats, PhD, MPH
Dr. Jylana L. Sheats is an applied Behavior Scientist with training in psychology, public health and health behavior from Spelman College (BA), Tulane University (MPH) and Indiana University-Bloomington (Ph.D.). She received postdoctoral training in behavioral medicine from Stanford School of Medicine. Leveraging her education and training, Jylana works across sectors. Her primary efforts focus on designing, deploying and evaluating behavior change solutions (digital, non-digital)- with the goal of reducing health disparities. She successfully balances a career in industry and academia, with concurrent faculty appointments at UC – Berkeley, Tulane University and Rutgers University. Her commitment to excellence has been recognized through peer-reviewed publications (e.g., JAMA, Preventive Medicine), Inspire leadership awards from Johnson & Johnson, and as a ‘Building Innovative Research Careers in Women’s Health’ fellowship from the National Institutes of Health. Jylana also holds leadership positions with volunteer organizations, loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, and wine tasting.
