Beth Karlin, PhD
Founder and CEO
Dr. Beth Karlin is a psychologist and social change strategist with a passion for applying behavioral science insights in education, sustainability, media, and health. Before starting See Change, she spent a decade working in K-12 education as a teacher, counselor, and school administrator. She also served as Research Director at the USC Norman Lear Center and founding Director of the Transformational Media Lab at UC Irvine, where she received her Ph.D. in Social Ecology with an emphasis in Design-Behavior Research. Beth has published in venues ranging from Psychological Bulletin to Peace Studies and is a sought-after speaker on Storytelling, Smart Technology, and the Social Science of Sustainability (and yes she loves alliteration). Beth is a past President of the American Psychological Association’s Environmental Division, a committee member of the National Academy of Sciences Environmental Health Matters Initiative, and an instructor in the Sustainability & Behavior Change Program at UC San Diego. She has a complete inability to remember people’s names at conferences but somehow still knows the lyrics to most 90s hip hop songs.
